Our Story

Since childhood, pasta has been an integral part of our family traditions. Even the name, inspired by our founder’s mother, has roots in our family history. While studying in Italy, Mari really began her deep dive into the world of pasta. After working in the culinary industry for around a decade, and earning three culinary certifications, and a degree in Hospitality Management, Mari felt that she was ready to begin her own business doing what she really loved: making pasta. The Chubby Cupboard is her way of sharing her passion with those around her.

With the expansion of our backyard garden and the beginning of our chicken raising journey, we truly hope to share a bit of our home with our customers. Whatever doesn’t come from our personal backyard will come from farms in the greater Sacramento area. Rotating flavors and shapes aim to bring a chance to constantly experience something new, while some of our classics will offer a step up from your ordinary comfort food experience.

The Chubby Cupboard makes everything in small batches from our home kitchen in Sacramento, California. All our dried pasta must be air dried and hand packaged, making every single bite a product of love.

 

Meet the Ladies

Our chickens provide all the eggs that go into our pasta! Since they are some of our most important employees, we would be remiss not to introduce them to you!


We currently have eight chickens in our flock! Zelda, Hilda, Velma, Mystic, Impa, Purah, Makoto, and Futaba are so special to us! We love to sit in the backyard with them and feed them mealworms (their favourite treat!).


The Ladies are an important part of our family, and we’re so happy to be able to share their hard work with our customers!

The Chubby Cupboard produces handmade pasta with eggs from our chickens, using produce from local farmers in the Sacramento area or our own garden. Every piece is hand shaped and hand packaged. We strive to really bring the taste of home to each of you.

Our passion for pasta drives us to bring our best to the table. Using eggs from our own chickens (The Ladies) and produce from our backyard garden, we aim to truly share our home traditions and new pasta discoveries with our customers. We hope the creativity behind flavors and combinations excites you as much as it excites us!
